Hi, my name is Shayne Simmons and with experience in both classroom teaching and private tutoring, I've seen firsthand what happens when a student finally understands math versus when they're just told to memorize it, and the difference is everything. I've worked with students from grade school all the way to adults retaking math later in life, and the one thing that never changes regardless of age is that real understanding is always the key. My own dad grew up believing he wasn't a math person, and honestly that lit a fire in me because I knew it didn't have to be that way. I've watched kids go from saying they hate math to genuinely getting it, and that transformation is exactly why I built The Algebra 1 Launchpad — my job is to make sure every student I work with gets that kind of understanding. Play Theory Mathematics is where that mission lives, and The Algebra 1 Launchpad is our current program for homeschool students ages 12-16 who are ready to build a real math foundation.
